Thanks to advances in molecular biology, genomics, and other scientific disciplines, we now have a better understanding of how certain mutations in cancer cells influence their development. This understanding has enabled the development of targeted therapies, specifically designed to attack the mutations present in each patient’s tumor cells, as well as the advancement of immunotherapy, which enhances or reorients the body’s own immune system to recognize and eliminate cancer cells.
